What The Hell Are You Thinking?

So, what are you thinking? How well do you know your thoughts? Do you realise what effect your thoughts have outside of yourself? Do you know you could change the world with your thoughts?!?
I wanted to title this, ‘Where is Heaven in Your Thoughts?’ but due to the misconstrued idea that spirituality is about religion and that heaven is as real as Father Christmas it struck me, not in a good way, that hell is a more familiar word for us to use. Have you ever wondered why it’s easier to gossip about doom and gloom than it is about joy and bliss? I have, I question everything. Have we lost the ability to think independently? Why is conforming encouraged and daydreaming reprimanded? It seems to me that if you dare to think differently to the majority you are considered mad, dangerous, or a conspiracy theorist! So as words like trolling, censoring and other such delightful adjectives become ‘normal’ don’t you wonder where all the beautiful words have gone? I am constantly disappointed when I hear, “people love a good moan”, “it’s just the way people are” and the latest and saddest of all, “you better get used to it”.
Apathy - lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern.
Complacency - a feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, often combined with a lack of awareness of pending trouble or controversy.
Complicity - choosing to be involved in an illegal or questionable act, especially with others.
I’m not going to elaborate on the words above but hope that you may begin to practise what is known as ‘critical thinking’. I believe this is a practise that is desperately needed in these times we find ourselves in. Not debating, as that is basically arguing about who is right, but dialogue, the art of thinking together.
Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action.
I am constantly amazed at the speed in which it seems that the majority of the world are all saying the same hashtag. Being someone that likes to think for myself I switched off the tv and all mainstream news over 6 years ago. It’s so interesting to me how offended people are when you have your own conclusions. Is that because they believe they are right or is it because I've highlighted their lack of critical thinking? How do you know what you are believing is right? What does your gut, your heart, your intuition say? Do you even know that you have a right to think for yourself?
So with all that in mind, I think I’ll take the thinking back to what consequences our thoughts have outside of us. I think most people have some kind of idea that our thoughts have a direct effect on our own health. The focus here, is more about the collective consciousness, you have only got to walk to the supermarket to know what most people are thinking these days! Without blowing your mind with science I think we could agree that standing next to a clearly happy person in the queue is far more enjoyable than a grumpy one, without any words being spoken. We also have the ability to ‘sense’ fear, just like we seek out the people in a crowd that we feel more comfortable being around, (well, we used to be able to do that anyway).
There is more than enough science and evidence to prove that like attracts like so if we multiply fearful thoughts by billions we can see the effects playing out. Then if we apply the idea that fear and anxiety literally shut down our immune systems then we basically have billions of people in the world experiencing and either unwittingly or deliberately sharing that. So this makes me question, assuming all of the above is fact, (there were over 91 million results when I googled the question, “what happens to the immune system when in fear?"), why is every action that has been taken to combat a pandemic completely devoid of immune-boosting, confidence, clarity, and calm? I ask the question that when there is an endless stream of information available on how to be healthy and happy, (178 million results when I checked!), why are we being made to be the most miserable we have ever been? I really do doubt that any amount of separation, isolation, zombifying, mask-wearing, insecurity, and scaremongering is going to save us all?!? Isn’t it time for some critical thinking, some sovereignty over our own thoughts?
How would it be if we were encouraged to eat organic foods, to grow plants as medicine for our communities, to dance, to sing, to laugh, to meditate, to support each other, to love each other, to dream, to trust, to believe in ourselves? Heaven, I reckon…
I’m really keen to share and explore immune-boosting, critical thinking, daydreaming, and how to claim our sovereignty back. If you are interested in having a conversation around the rebellious act of being happy and healthy with me then I’d love to hear from you. It’s time to let the old ways die and birth a better way, hey?
